Final Report:

I made an interview with one of my neighbors, Yusuf Shams Al-Hammadi, he is an old man in his 70’s. First of all, he started to talk about his father’s work that he was diving to extract pearls. When Mr. Yusuf was at age of six years old, he was playing with the other children while he waiting for his father, so that brought to my mind a question and I asked him “how long did the trip take?” and he answered “sometimes took few days and sometimes took hours”. Also, I asked him “how did you spend your time while you were waiting your father to come back?” and he responded “by playing various games”. Then he started to explain the games that he played. One of these traditional games is “Al-Shakha” (Jumping game), and he was playing with the girls and the boys. Someday in 1951, Yusuf was playing with his friends, and he was the one performing the chant to choose two players to sit on the ground and extend their legs to touch each other. The other kids took a distance standing and then they start to run and jumping above the two kid’s legs without touching their feet, or they will sit aside until the other finish the game. Also, he talked about a game was called “tag-tagia." In this game, the kids sat in circles and one walked around them and he sang “tag-tag-tagia” and the others responded “rin-rin-ya-jaras” until he touched one of them and ran to not be caught by him, but he was little bit fat, so he was slow, and he was easy to be caught.

In addition, Mr. Yusuf said our games were more enjoyable than yours because we were moving a lot, and I could make many friends and I treated them as my family. While you sit and play by the electronic devices, and you don’t move a lot.

Case Study Reflection

We are a group of four students who worked on the project and the project was about sports clubs. We decided to choose Al-Ain Club for shoot and golf and horse riding because one of us joined that club before, and he knew some people from there so we thought it would be easy to organize with them. Also, we separated the work for each member, and I was the one who collected some information on the internet about the club and I made the questions of the interviews. For the other members, one of them was holding the camera and another one was asking the questions and last one was editing the video that is the hardest work.

Through the interview, I learned many things about shooting and golf and riding the horse. For example; the bullet of the gun that was shown in the video contains many solid particles that separate in the air when you shot and that gives you the chance to hit your goal. I generally think the answers were normal, and there was nothing unexpected. However, I didn't expect that golf is a hard game, and it is easier to watch. The responses of the interviews were useful to learn about the facilities of the club and we attracted the people who were interested in these sports or to know how to spend your free time.

We faced some problems because of the bad organization like when we told the staff of the club that we wanted to go around the club and take pictures, and we would do an interview, they agreed but after we came and turned on the camera, they refused to do the interview, so we waste a lot of time to look for some staff to do the interview. I was satisfied with the policy of the club because there was nothing hard to do the project. However, if I did the case study again, I would try to make the better organization so as not to face any problem.
